About BMS CAT

BMS Catastrophe is Steamatic’s Restoration Technologies Division. BMS CAT is our electronics and engineering section that deals with losses requiring objective assessment consultancy, management and rectification with insurance, technical issues assessment, chemical testing and specially designed cleaning protocols for restoration.

The cost of restoring much of a damage-affected building is approximately 10-30 percent of the cost of replacement. Where electronics are involved, the savings can be even greater. When you consider the value and importance of data and records to business, the costs of not recovering vital information can be beyond measure.

The key is having the right technology, ready for deployment. With a delay, the chances of returning equipment to pre-loss condition decrease. But planning and rapid action can have damage-affected buildings, equipment and records getting the attention they need, and getting them back to pre-loss condition, fast.

BMS CAT is in the business of getting business back to work after an accident happens.

Time is not on your side

Corrosion, decay and degradation of equipment and files begins immediately after fire or water damage occurs. Its control depends on how quickly preventative steps are implemented. Corrosion control is a two-step process that begins with emergency treatment, which creates a state of preservation by drastically slowing the corrosion process. This is followed by restoration procedures where items are disassembled, decontaminated, cleaned, reassembled and tested.

Once emergency treatment has been performed, BMS CAT Electronics Consultants assess the damage by considering these questions:

  • is the equipment damaged but restorable, or a total loss?
  • in its damaged condition, what is the present value? Is restoration a sound economic choice?
  • is the information in memory, on disk or on other type media, retrievable?
  • if the equipment is restored, what about warranties and service?

Remember– time is critical. BMS CAT can help you with rapid, accurate assessments on the best options. Getting a response into action, critical time can be lost. The best solution is to have a response solution in place before disaster strikes.
