Work Health and Safety

1. Purpose

This Work Health & Safety (WHS) Policy outlines our commitment to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders. It serves as a guide to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices while fostering a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders involved in our organisation's activities. It encompasses all workplaces, including offices, remote locations, and field sites.

3. Commitment and Responsibility Management

Senior management is responsible for setting a clear example of safety leadership, providing necessary resources for effective WHS management, and promoting a culture that embodies safety. They will regularly review the WHS Policy to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Complacency and poor governance will not be tolerated, and Management will be held accountable by the Board / Executive Committee.

Supervisors and Team Leaders Supervisors and team leaders are responsible for implementing and promoting the WHS Policy within their respective areas of responsibility. They must ensure that their teams receive adequate training, have access to necessary safety equipment, and follow established safety procedures. Non-compliance will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.

Employees and Contractors All employees and contractors are responsible for their safety and the safety of others. They must follow all established safety procedures, report hazards and incidents promptly, and actively participate in safety training and awareness programs. Non-compliance will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.

4. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

We are committed to complying with all applicable local, regional, and national health and safety laws and regulations. Our activities will be carried out in accordance with industry standards and best practices to ensure the prevention of accidents, injuries, and illness.

5. Risk Management

We are committed to identifying and assessing potential workplace hazards to prevent accidents and injuries. Hazard assessments will be conducted regularly, and control measures will be implemented to minimize risks. Risk assessments will consider both physical and psychological hazards.

6. Consultation and Communication

Open communication and collaboration are crucial to maintaining a safe work environment. We encourage employees and stakeholders to report hazards, incidents, and safety concerns promptly. Regular safety meetings, feedback channels, and communication platforms will be utilised to ensure everyone is informed and engaged in WHS matters.

7. Training and Development

We are committed to providing comprehensive training to all employees to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their tasks safely. Training programs will be tailored to the specific needs of each role and will be regularly updated to address new risks and emerging technologies.

8. Incident Management

In the unfortunate event of an incident, we will promptly respond, investigate, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. All incidents, regardless of severity, will be reported, recorded, and analysed to enhance our safety systems.

9. Emergency Preparedness

Emergency response plans will be developed and communicated to address various potential scenarios, including fires, natural disasters, medical emergencies, and workplace violence. Regular drills and simulations will be conducted to ensure all stakeholders are familiar with emergency procedures.

10. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to a culture of continuous improvement in WHS. Regular reviews of safety performance, incident data, and feedback will drive updates to policies, procedures, and training to enhance our safety practices.

11. Sustainability and Well-being

We recognise that a safe and healthy work environment is fundamental to the well-being of our employees and the long-term sustainability of our business. We will actively promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being and encourage a healthy work-life balance.

12. Resources Allocation

Adequate resources, including financial, human, and technological resources, will be allocated to support the effective implementation of our WHS program. By adhering to this Work Health & Safety Policy, we are not only safeguarding the lives and well-being of our employees but also creating a foundation for a successful and sustainable future for Steamatic.
